Bombshell Review: la prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Collection

If there was ever a time to amp up your skin care routine, winter is it. This polar vortex weather sweeping across the nation has given me dry skin on a level greater than I can recall ever experiencing during winters past. Add to that the fact that I just celebrated the 2nd anniversary of my 29th birthday turned 31 last week, and you can safely say that anti-aging skin care is ever-present in the forefront of my mind.

Needless to say, when I got the opportunity to try out the la prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Collection, I was thrilled. Consisting of a cream and a dry oil, the products in the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal collection are formulated with extracts of plants that live – and thrive – in the harsh conditions of the Swiss Alps. Given that the plants can sustain themselves in their harsh environment, their presence in the Swiss Ice Crystal Collection is supposed to aid in the anti-aging of skin. With continued use, skin and wrinkles should be softened and smoothed.

I’ve only been using the products for a few weeks, and I don’t have wrinkles (knock on wood), so I can’t yet speak on the anti-aging claims. What I can share is my thoughts on the softness and smoothness of my skin after using it. Any flaky spots that I had on my skin were remedied after using this duo. I anticipated that the Swiss Ice Crystal Cream would be super heavy, but the texture was a lighter weight than I thought it would be. Despite it’s almost whipped texture, the cream was still very rich and added lots of moisture to the skin. Too much moisture for my oily/combo skin, but normal to dry skin types will appreciate getting moisture without heavy greasiness.

The Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil was my favorite of the duo. The dry oil texture provided hydration without being greasy on my skin. I used the product at night, but I feel that its texture makes it ideal under makeup during the day. I used it in conjunction with the cream and on its on, and I preferred it on its own. Now, these products are on the pricey side at $300 each. But if you’re a girl who enjoys luxury skin care products or who wants to invest in some high-powered anti-aging skin care, this line is worth a look!

Miles high in the Swiss Alps, in a world of sheer ice crystals, beauty transcends time. Here, two seemingly fragile plants and one tiny algae survive and thrive in the harshest setting on earth, developing strategies to outwit the environment. It’s only fitting then that la prairie, with a heritage deeply rooted in Switzerland, harnessed these extreme-survivalist secrets into the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Collection. The discovery combines some of the most sophisticated survivalist secrets.
