Rimmel has a new lip product for summer that definitely lives up to it’s name. Introducing Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer, $5.49! Here’s what Rimmel says about these highly pigmented lip colors:
- For the first time, the intense, richer color of a lipstick is enhanced by a smooth satin shine
- Ultra-intense, ultra-comfortable – it lasts all day
- It’s neither a lipstick… nor a gloss… it’s BIGGER than both
The earth-shattering lip lacquer from Rimmel London combining the intense color of lipstick with a lacquer like shine, Show Off Lip Lacquer is an explosive make-up phenomenon that represents the end of color as you know it. Packed with pure color pigments, its lusciously creamy, conditioning formula promises a never-before combination of color, shine and comfort that last and last.
So are these lip lacquers as intense as they claim to be? I’d say so! Take a look:
Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Apocaliptic, a bright, hot pink, and Big Bang, a bright, true red.
Doe foot applicator: Apocaliptic (top) and Big Band (bottom)
Swatches: Apocaliptic (top) and Big Bang (bottom)
Me wearing Apocaliptic. This picture doesn’t even’t show how incredibly bright this shade is. I practically needed sunglasses to look at myself!
Me wearing Big Bang. It’s bright, but I dig it!
So, um…yeah. These are bright! The red is fine being bright and bold, but the hot pink was a little too hot, even for me who loves a good hot pink lip in the summer. I also had this in a pinky nude that I thought would be a good natural lip color, but even that was loud. I think the key to wearing these is to apply them minimally and blot for a wash of color, rather than the in-your-face look that full application gives. This is moot, of course, if you want to wear it full throttle, as I prefer with Big Bang.
For only 5 bucks I think these are worthy of a look! In fact, I think I may go back for a coral shade and maybe try the pinky nude again. Find these at Walgreens stores or on Drugstore.com.
