It’s almost Valentine’s Day! Now, I must say that I’ve never been a huge Valentine’s Day person. Don’t get me wrong. It can be lovely, but in my humble opinion, romance should be present throughout the year rather than doled out on one day out of entire year. And the gifts are so tired. The same ‘ole box of chocolates and grocery store flowers doesn’t exactly scream romance, ‘ya know?
And the same goes for the gifts we give the fellas. I mean, how many bottles of cologne can you give the poor guy (and you know you just bought him cologne for Christmas, lol)? This year, why not gift your guy something to preserve (*cough* or create…) his sexy. A gentleman understands the importance of grooming, and I don’t know any man that wouldn’t appreciate a little bit of pampering! Plus, you can find these items in your local store in time for Valentine’s Day. Thank me later! 😉
The Art of Shaving is the expert when it comes to shaving (obviously!) and their The 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave, $115 makes for a great gift. It contains a Pre-Shave Gel, Shaving Cream, After-Shave Lotion and Pure Badger Black Shaving Brush. His everyday shave will transform into an experience he actually enjoys. My ex-BF bought one of their kits on a whim one day and was hooked. He went back and bought one of everything they make. It’s good stuff, girls! Grab one at Dillard’s, fine department store and freestanding The Art of Shaving Stores.
He’s got to take care of his hair, but why not upgrade him from his jar of Dax? I’ve already shared cult-favorite Shea Moisture’s men’s shave care collection (I gifted it to my dad one Father’s Day and he’s still a fan), but for 2013 the brand is releasing a collection of men’s body and hair care products! The collection is available at Target stores where Shea Moisture products are sold, and I’ve already seen it at my local store. I also noticed that Shea Moisture has a new line of men’s face and body care that looked nice, so look for those, too.
We all know candles can set a romantic mood, but instead of lighting up your usual girly candle, gift your guy a candle in a masculine scent. It will give his space a grown and sexy vibe. Don’t sleep on the offerings at your local Bath and Body Works store. Their Mahogany Teakwood Candle, $20 is incredibly rich, sexy and masculine. It has notes of mahogany, cedarwood and oak, highlighted by delicate lavender and geranium notes. Though it is decidedly masculine in scent, you’ll enjoy it as well. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost bought this candle for myself! I promise you. He. Will. Love. It.
If you want to go the luxe route, gift him the Fresh Cannabis Candle, $50. Scented like the award winning Fresh Cannabis Santal fragrance for men, this candle is definitely for the man who appreciates the finer things. You can get it at Sephora stores.
I don’t know about you, but it drives me crazy when a guy has jagged, scraggly cuticles – and bring me my fainting salts if his hands are ashy! I’d never expect (or want) a man to sit around rubbing cuticle oil into his nails, but a little attention must be paid, fellas. Make it easy for him with AHAVA MEN Mineral Hand Cream, $20. Its non-greasy formula is easily absorbed and contains hydrating minerals and botanic extracts. Dry, rough skin will be moisturized, and fugly cuticles will be a thing of the past!
Ok, this isn’t a gift, per se, but totally necessary! Valentine’s day is prime smooching time, and there’s nothing sexy about chapped lips. Nothing, I tell you! I swear by the Jack Black Lip Balms, $7.50. Jack Black is a men’s line, but many a woman (myself included) has co-opted these lip balms for their own use. It moisturizes deeply with shea butter and vitamin E to prevent dryness, and cures chapped lips like a champ. They come in a range of flavors, but the original peppermint will make his mouth minty fresh. If you want to make a gift out of it (or if he’s prone to losing lip balms), give him the four pack. You can pick these up at Sephora and Ulta stores. Slip one of these in his jacket pocket, and keep one for yourself!
Buy one of these grooming products as a nice add-on to his gift, or buy a few and arrange them in a handsome black container like this one. He can keep it on his dresser or bathroom sink to store his new goodies! What plans do you have for Valentine’s Day?
