Bombshell Diaries: Bloggers on Tour at Halls Kansas City
I recently attended a blogger event at Halls Crown Center, to take a peek at their new holiday arrivals and tour the newly renovated store. For those who are unfamiliar, Halls departments stores are Kansas City institutions. The first Halls store was opened by Kansas Citian and Hallmark Cards founder J.C. Halls in 1916. I guess when you own the world’s biggest greeting card company, you need somewhere fabulous to shop close to home, and naming it after yourself it a given, of course. Ha!
Halls stores have always offered a carefully edited collection of the best in fashion, accessories, home and gifts. There are now two Halls in Kansas City, with the most notable being the store on the Country Club Plaza (or what we Kansas Citians affectionately call “The Plaza”). The Plaza location is very similar in merchandise and pricing to that of a Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales. Basically, it’s every local fashion girl’s dream!
As we learned at the event, the Crown Center store is different, in that the Halls brand wants to offer shoppers the same unique finds it always has, but at a more affordable price point. While it’s nice to
drool over admire the Prada, Marni and the recent vintage Chanel handbag collection at The Plaza store, the Crown Center store is far better for my wallet! Take a look at some of the items I spied on our tour through Halls Crown Center!
This cute little number with sequin capped sleeves is perfect for a holiday party. I believe it was only about $80, which makes it even better!
Downstairs Halls, shop for casual men’s apparel
Nudie Jeans for men. Italian denim made from organic cotton, gorgeous washes. Prices range from about $179-225.
How could I not snap a shot of these rabbit fur men’s gloves? Would your guy rock these?
In the “Kiddo” section. My nephews, ages 9 and 5, would LOVE these backpacks. The spiked ones are right up their alley. Christmas gift from Auntie Amber, perhaps?
In the holiday shop. When was the last time you saw a pink Christmas tree? Yeah, me neither! Though, I’m sure my 5 year old self would have begged for this tree, lol.
As a born and bred Kansas City girl, I’m a self-proclaimed BBQ snob. I don’t eat just anyone’s BBQ, lol! I could have used this ornament those years I was living in NYC, lol.
Finally got to meet fellow Kansas City beauty blogger Kimberly of www.KimberlyLoc.com! Fashionistas abound, but us beauty girls are a rare breed in these parts! Pic via Kimberly’s Instagram. BTW, I was wearing a sick pair of oxblood colored, coated denim jeans, that I really wish you could see here, lol.
The metallic tote Halls gifted each blogger. Lots of goodies inside!
I used my gift card toward the purchase of a second bottle of this gorgeous stuff. Review coming soon!
Halls gifted each blogger with a fab metallic tote filled (in the photo above) with several goodies including a Rachel Zoe makeup bag, Jones NY travel jewelry case and a Halls gift card. I bopped on over to the Giorgio Armani beauty counter at The Plaza store that weekend (I can’t stay away!), and used my gift card toward another bottle of the new Maestro foundation makeup. I have to do some mixing of two shades to make it work, but I’ll dish on that in another post soon!
I had a great time at the Halls Crown Center event! It was great meeting girls from KC’s blogging community, and the staff at Halls was super friendly and knowledgeable. I’ll be back! You can learn more about Halls on their fab style blog, What the Chic (um, is that name not everything?). The lovely La’Shonda, who I was also glad to finally meet, has some great photos of the event on her blog, Fashion Plate KC.
Let me know in the comments how you guys like these Bombshell Diaries posts. Maybe I’ll make it a series here on the blog? Let me know!
