I’ve seen Nubian Heritage products for several months now (they’re the sister brand to SheaMoisture), but never tried any of their products. I don’t know why, they just didn’t jump out at me. Well, recently I was in the market for a strengthening deep conditioner and decided to give Nubian Heritage Grow & Strengthen Treatment Masque, $14.99 a try. My hair had been feeling particularly dry and brittle after I got the bright idea to color my own hair (Ugh, don’t ask. The color didn’t even take…womp! lol), so the ingredients in this treatment mask were just what I needed.
It contains conditioning hemp, tamanu and monoi oils, and keratin and bamboo to strengthen and fortify hair. After shampoo my hair I apply the masque generously over my hair and cover it with a plastic cap. I’ve used it with a heated conditioning cap, and with my own natural body heat while I do stuff around the house, for 30-45 minutes each time. Both methods work fine, but I found I got the best results when I sat under heat for at least 15 minutes. My hair not only felt strengthened and less brittle, but it was baby soft and super easy to detangle.
I’m sold! It’s hard to find a deep conditioner that is equally good at strengthening and moisturizing hair, and the Grow & Strengthen Treatment Masque definitely accomplished both. Plus, it smells amazing. It’s light, softly sweet/floral, and reminds me of Marc Jacobs Daisy (a fave fragrance of many a girl). I plan to always have a jar of this around, and am interested in trying some other Nubian Heritage products. Have you tried any of their products? Which do you recommend?
