A girl can never go wrong with a great nude lip color and nail lacquer, but any brown girl can tell you how difficult it can be to find a nude to compliment our skin tones. Enter L’Oreal New York Nudes – a collection of six nude shades from fair to deep, each shade with a trio of lip gloss, lipstick and nail polish. I picked up the three deepest shades of the lipgloss and nail polish to share with my bombshells!
First up are the nail polishes, shown here from left to right in Hudson Sunset, Downtown Chic and Brownie Points. Each of the shades are opaque (which can be rare with nude polishes) creams and the swatches below are two coats each.
Hudson Sunset was the best shade for my skin tone. It’s a warm hued caramel brown. It looked a little light in the bottle, but ended up looking great on. Love this shade! It will definitely be added to my collection of faves.
Downtown Chic is a warm, red-toned brown. It was too red for my skin tone to be a nude, but was a pretty shade nonetheless. The warmth in this shade goes a long way to keep the shade from looking dead or muddy.
Brownie Points is a deep, rich chocolate brown. As with the previous shades, it does have a warm quality that will keep the shade from looking dull or muddy against the skin.
I have the three deepest shades of the LeGloss from left to right in Skyline Glow, Cinnamon Spiced and Spiked Coffee. The L’Oreal LeGloss are great drugstore glosses, with great color payoff and non-sticky texture.
From left to right are Skyline Glow, Cinnamon Spiced and Spiked Coffee. Skyline Glow is a perfect nude shade for me. If these are limited edition, I’m definitely going to have to pick up a few more. It’s that great a shade for me. Cinnamon Spiced has a golden sparkle, and I tend to not like sparkle in my lip color. It’s also a lot more gold than I like in a nude, but the color itself is pretty. So if you don’t mind sparkle, you might want to give it a go. Spiked Coffee is a creamy chocolate brown, that would look gorgeous on deeper skin tones. I plan to wear it for a more dramatic look in these cooler months, and I think the warm undertones will help my warm toned skin pull it off.
If you see the L’Oreal New York Nudes Collection, I think it’s worth it to pick up an item or two to try! Have you seen or tried these? Which shade was a match for you?
