Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips, $9 are one of those ideal beauty products that seem too good to be true…until you try them and find out they’re pretty darn fabulous! Though these nail polish strips have been on my radar since their release long ago, for some reason I’ve never given them a try.

All this changed when I saw that Sally Hansen was releasing a set of limited-edition polish strips with patterns straight from designer Prabal Gurung’s Spring/Summer 2012 runway. I was sold! After stalking several drugstores, I finally found and snapped up a box of the strips in Sweet Marble Floret. I loved the marbled design and the color palette was a perfect combination of chic neutrals and spring pastels.

They were unbelievably quick and easy to apply. To start, swipe your nail beds with polish remover to clean them and then match each fingernail with the appropriately sized strip. Peel of the backing of a strip and apply it to your nail, and then file away the excess strip with the included nail file. And that’s it! There is ZERO drying time and I experienced no lumps or unevenness.

I attended a wedding the next day and at the reception people kept asking me what I had on my nails and if I’d done the nail art myself. They were shocked to learn that they were Sally Hansen strips, lol! They lasted for an impressive week and a half before they began to show signs of wear. In the pic below you can see my nail growth at the base of my nail bed, and the strip began to peel back at the tip. All in all, I don’t think it was bad at all for nearly 10 days of wear!

I’ll definitely be trying other designs and will be sure to keep a few boxes on hand. Last weekend I traveled to the Style Bloggers of Color Conference and didn’t have a chance to get my nails polished beforehand, nor did I get a change to polish them between events. When I saw my blog pal Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista rocking a pair of strips from the new Rock of Ages collection (which I totally want to go see!), I thought “Duh! Why didn’t I bring some polish strips?!”. My nails went naked that weekend for no good reason, lol!
