Beauty for Brown Girls: AMBI Even & Clear Skin Care

The first product I tried was the AMBI Even & Clear Foaming Cleanser, which contains Salicylic Acid to battle blemishes. My skin tends to be oily so I like to have a foam cleanser on hand during the warmer months to get my skin clean. I didn’t find it to be irritating or drying like many blemish cleanser can be, and I appreciated the inclusion of soy and Vitamin C to even skin tone.
I was already a fan of AMBI Even & Clear Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 and was happy to add it back into my skin care rotation. My usual SPF moisturizer is a bit too heavy for summer, so the light texture of this was a welcome change. Like the cleanser, it also contains soy extract and Vitamin C to help even skin tone, as well as anti-oxidant Vitamin E. I don’t leave the house without a minimum of SPF 30 and this gives it without a trace of ashiness!
Last but not least is the AMBI Fade Cream for Normal Skin. I was already using the Fade Cream for Oily Skin with great results when I received the Normal Skin version to try. Oddly enough, the Normal Skin fade cream felt lighter going on than the Oily Skin fade cream, but it also seemed to add more moisture. I don’t really need the extra moisture, so I’ll be sticking with the Oily Skin version.
I did find the AMBI fade creams to be effective in fading my dark spots. I must note that with any fade product, it is important to use it when the dark post is fresh for the best results. I had a fresh dark spot on my cheek from a blemish I just couldn’t leave alone (terrible, I know!) and I saw a difference in a matter of days when I applied the cream twice a day. Older spots will fade too, they’ll just take more time, but you must be CONSISTENT!
For those who are concerned about hydroquinone (the active ingredient in this product), you needn’t be if you follow the package directions. Every dermatologist I’ve ever had (and with my temperamental skin, I’ve had a lot) has prescribed hydroquinone products to fade dark spots from blemishes, bug bites, etc. It’s perfectly safe and any horror story you’ve heard are about people who abuse and misuse it, in some cray-cray effort to bleach their skin. Just be sure to apply it only to the dark spot(s) you want to fade (not all over!) and wear a sunscreen daily to prevent the spots from getting worse.
So, there you have it! Have you tried any AMBI products? What did you think?
