A few weeks ago I shared that supermodel Beverly Johnson was launching a new line of hair care products at Target stores, and now I’ve tried a few of the products to share my thoughts with you! I received the Top Model Super Luxurious Moisturizing Shampoo, Work It Ultra Softening Conditioning Treatment and Go Curly, a curling custard type product.
First up is the Top Model Super Luxurious Moisturizing Shampoo, $12.95, which I really enjoyed. It cleansed my hair and scalp really well without leaving it stripped. My hair didn’t exactly feel conditioned after use (though shampoos rarely do, IMO), but it did feel soft and clean. I’ll definitely reach for Top Model again when my hair needs a good, gentle cleanse!

I followed up with Work It Ultra Softening Conditioning Treatment, $18.95. I was coming off of wearing my hair straight for a few weeks, so I really wanted to deep treat my hair to make sure my curls bounced back. After working the product through my hair, I covered my head with a plastic cap and sat under a heated conditioning cap for about 20 minutes. When I rinsed, my hair felt not only soft but it felt strong, which was definitely appreciated after the heat of a blow dryer and flat iron.

Last but not least is Go Curly, $19.95 a curling custard type product. Since it’s not quite warm enough for me to start up my wash and go’s again, I’ve been wearing twist outs, so I decided to use Go Curly for my two-strand twists. Before I began twisting, though, I finger raked some of the product through some sections as I do when wearing wash and go’s, and I got stretched, defined curls. No shrinkage!

Go Curly in the jar. See how much I used? Big mistake, lol!
I proceeded with my two-strand twists and left them in overnight. When I took them down the next morning, my twists were plump and had great sheen. In fact, I had jury duty that day and several jurors complimented me on my hair, lol! The sad news is that I ended up having to wash it out. The thin consistency of Go Curly was deceiving and I was really heavy handed with the product so I ended up with flakes. You don’t know how ticked with myself I was!
Also, I think Go Curly is a great option for those who like Kinky Curly Curling Custard but find it to be crunchy, as Go Curly gives hold and definition but stays soft. Just don’t overdo it, lol! I think these Beverly Johnson products are definitely worth a try if you come across them in your local Target. Visit BeverlyJohnson.com to find a Target store near you selling these products.
