How I Banish a Blemish: Desert Essence Blemish Touch Stick + Clean & Clear Popped Pimple Relief Drying Paste
I don’t get pimples very often (instead, persistent blackheads are my skin’s annoyance of choice), but when I do get them those suckers set up camp for a good week or so. And they hurt. So how do I handle them? Well that depends on whether or not I had the good sense to keep my hands off the pimple or not.
If I’m being a good girl and following my own advice of never popping pimples, then I reach for my trusty Desert Essence Blemish Touch Stick, $9. I tried it on whim in Whole Foods a few years ago, and now I’m on my 3rd or 4th bottle of the stuff. I apply the liquid via the rollerball applicator every few hours, and in a matter of 2 or 3 days, even the deepest, most sore cystic (under the skin) pimple is gone. Tea Tree oil is the key ingredient here, and although witch hazel and alcohol are included, I’ve not experienced any crazy drying or peeling. If you’ve got dry skin, apply your usual moisturizer after allowing the Blemish Touch Stick to dry. It’s also great for bug bites!
If I have a blemish that’s come to a head (don’t even try messing with a pimple that’s under the skin!) and couldn’t resist popping it, I’ll apply Clean & Clear Popped Pimple Relief Drying Paste, $6, which dries the pore up with 0.05% Salicylic Acid and it’s clay mask-like consistency. I dot it on the area and leave it overnight. In the morning the area has gone done and can be covered smoothly with concealer.
My method for spot treating a pesky pimple! If you’ve got a blemish or two that pops up on you now and then, definitely give these products a try. What do you use to get rid of a pimple? Share with the class, lol!
