ZOYA True and Fleck Effect Collections: Swatches and Review
Happy New Year, beauties! 2012 is newly upon us and beauty brands are beginning to reveal their 2012 spring collections! Today we’re taking a look at ZOYA’s two new spring collections, True and Fleck Effect. First up is True, a collection of six shades that are perfect for spring!
A fresh bloom of dewy color. Inspired by the runway looks of top designers this collection features slightly muted and unexpected spring shades in six easy to wear, full-coverage creams and metallics.
· Cho: Full coverage, vanilla shimmer metallic
· Farah: Full coverage, latte beige cream
· Bevin: Full coverage, pale sage green cream
· Skylar: Full coverage, silvered slate blue metallic
· Tru: Full coverage, gilded purple orchid metallic
· Lotus: Full coverage, light lotus purple metallic
Cho puts me in the mindset of one of the shades in ZOYA’s Touch collection, but with not as much metallic sheen. Cho is also slightly less opaque, so I found 3 coats is necessary to avoid the nail line shown above with two coats. Very pretty, warm toned nude.
I found Farrah to be a bit more difficult to pull off on my brown skin. A very opaque cream, Farrah’s grey-ish tone looked too dense chalky on me to wear. I think this would work great on a someone with fair skin and cool undertones.
At first glance Bevin looked interesting but my hopes weren’t too high. But now that I’ve swatched it, I’m kinda obsessed! I’m not a fan of green, but Bevin is quite unique and very wearable. This picture doesn’t do it justice!
Skylar was another sleeper hit for me. I never think anything blue looks good on me, but I love Skylar. The warm gold glitter really glams up this pastel blue shade.
Since purple is my fave color, I fell in love with Tru right away. A rich purple spiked with gold? Sign me up! This is a great transitional shade that you can start to wear now!
Lotus is a lovely pastel purple with fine gold flecks. Again, the shimmer factor really ups the ante on a traditional pastel shade!
Zoya Nail Polish presents – three new mylar fleck glazes that can be worn alone or layered over the new ZOYA TRUE collection colors for a unique and beautiful nail look!
· Maisie: Blue tint with mylar green fleck effect
· Opal: Green tint with mylar green fleck effect
· Chloe: Pink tint with mylar green and gold fleck effect
While swatching these I tried them on my bare nail to see what the flecks looked like, but they’re far too sheer on their own to show up. Although they were designed to be worn with the True collection, I swatched them on a deeper shade (Zoya in Pinta) to make sure they photographed well.
I’m completely obsessed with these! I’m not always into glitter, so these mylar flecks are a fab alternative and look almost like nail art! I went a little overboard in this pic with two coats, but in the future I might just do one. To my naked eye, Maise and Opal look pretty identical, so I don’t know if you need both. IDK, maybe it’s just me!
While there were some shades in these collections that I loved more than others, I found them to be solid with several wearable shades. Pastels are so predictable (and boring!) for a spring beauty collection, so I appreciated the pops of glitter, shimmer and sparkle used to jazz up these shades. True and Fleck Effect will be available on ZOYA.com on January 13th for $8 each, but you can pre-order them now.
