Best In Beauty: 2012 Golden Globe Awards

There weren’t many brown bombshells working the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globe Awards (shocker), but the ones who were there certainly represented! Let’s talk beauty and see who turnout out the best look of the evening!

First up is Paula Patton who was glowingly gorgeous, as usual! I adore her in this bold yellow Monique Lhuillier gown, and she (very wisely) kept her makeup, hair and jewelry simple. I would have loved a bold beauty look from Ms. Patton, as I believe her face can pull off darn near anything, but given the gown, this look makes sense!

Octavia Spencer won big last night and took home a Golden Globe for her supporting role in The Help, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled!  Sadly, her look was not as triumphant. Don’t get me wrong. Octavia Spencer looked pretty, but she wasn’t serving a look worthy of the red carpet. ESPECIALLY if you’re expected to win and will have your photograph seen all over the world.

Her makeup looks better here than it did on TV (the hair-not so much), because I thought she looked washed out, almost like she was headed to dinner instead of the GG’s. I don’t blame Octavia, I blame her team (or perhaps, lack thereof?) and I hope who ever is working with her does right by her for the Oscars…or gets shown the door! She’s just too attractive a woman for this.

Mary J. Blige was also present for the festivities for her song on The Help soundtrack. Mary looked good, but something was just…off. For starters, MJB could have used a proper body shaper to do that Michael Kors gown justice, but we’re talking beauty here, so I’ll try to stay on topic, lol! Like I said, Mary looked good, but she just didn’t wow me, ya’ know?

Speaking of being wowed, can we discuss Viola Davis for a second? Yeah, Ms. Davis is werking that red carpet, serving fierce looks left and right! From her understatedly sexy Emilio Pucci gown to her stunning hair and makeup, everything about Viola Davis was perfection!

First, I la-la-love her hair! I’m a sucker for a cute pixie cut (aww, I miss mine!) and hers is simple, chic and elegant. Love it! But the smoky eye situation is what really won me over. Her kohl rimmed eye was perfectly balanced with a sheer plum lip, and I love that this red carper look is also totally workable for a hot date night (Valentine’s Day, anyone?)! Viola Davis, hands down, gets my vote for Best In Beauty!

Before I wrapped things up, I thought I’d throw this little goodie in for my ladies! Ok, so clearly Idris Elba is not rocking a beauty look per se, but he’s scrumptious and he won a Golden Globe last night, so here he is, LOL! You know you love him, so you’re welcome! Ha!

So that’s it! The Best In Beauty roundup for the 2012 Golden Globes! Did you agree or disagree with my picks? Let me know in the comments! See you next time for the Grammy’s!
