Bombshell Shopping: Splurge vs. Steal with SearsStyle
Though I can’t quite recall what year it was the last time I was in a Sears store, when I was recently contacted about shopping the searsStyle collections (UK French Connection, Kardashain Kollection, Apostrophe, Bongo) to find splurge-worthy pieces at prices that are a steal, I was game! Sears recently joined in with many discount retailers and is now offering designer diffusion clothing lines. I was curious about just what they had to offer, so I grabbed my Sears gift card and headed for a local store.
There were tons of clothes packed into the women’s department, so I decided to focus on the UK French Connection (from higher end chain French Connection) and Kardashian Kollection lines (I’m sure these girls need no introduction…lol). As is to be expected with discount lines like this, there were only a few jems to be found amidst the confusion. So, here’s what I picked up!
For casual days, I selected the UK Style by French Connection Womens Shawl Collar Cardigan Sandstone, $36 on sale from $72. It was comfy, cute and warm, and I plan to wear it with a basic white tee underneath with skinny jeans and riding boots. A very cute, yet put-together look for running errands or a casual lunch date with the girls!
The other item I selected was the Kardashian Kollection Cropped Fur Vest, $34 on sale from $58. I have a mild obsession with all things fur, and this little number was too fab to pass up! In fact, the sales associate who rang me up kept commenting on how cute it was. I’m going to go for a glam winter look, and am planning to layer this over a form-fitting black turtleneck sweater with black wide-leg pants, sky-high black stiletto boots and gold jewelry. Can’t wait!
Ok, so let me share some general notes about these two lines. First, UK French Connection seemed to excel when it came to the array of sweaters and dress pants offered. Kardashian Kollection had a few standout pieces (mostly dress pants and dresses) but consisted mostly of club wear. Also, order up a size or two with the Kardashian line, as it runs extremely small. Both of these lines, are seriously overpriced, in my opinion, given the less than stellar quality of the craftsmanship and materials. Both collections were on clearance for 40-60% off, and I found these prices to be more reasonable.
Overall, I didn’t find tons of items that I would wear, but of the few that I liked, I would certainly add them to my closet. If you’re interested in shopping Sears, head over to their website or your local store and see what they have to offer! Have you shopped Sears recently? What was your experience?
