Sultry Summer Eyes: Wet ‘n Wild Gilded Age Eyeshadow Trio
Happy Monday! One of the most sought after cosmetics items this summer is from bargain beauty brand, Wet ‘n Wild. Now, you may or may not know, but Wet n’ Wild gave themselves a serious makeover last year. Not only did the packaging change, but the formulas of their products changed. I’m a fan of the new longwear lipsticks, and tons of beauty fans are obsessed with their new ColorIcon eyeshadows (read my review here). These pigment-rich shadows come in a wide range of gorgeous shades and ring in at under $5. Tons of beauty bloggers love them, and one of their shadow trios recently won an Essence Magazine Best in Beauty Award.
Well, when beauty fanatics caught wind of a limited-edition eyeshadow trio made of of summer-friendly bronze and gold shades, they went on a beauty hunt! For the last couple of months people were complaining that the Gilded Age Eyeshadow Trio, $2.99 was nearly impossible to find, and I hadn’t seen them either. Unicorns are easier to find than this thing! So imaging my surprise when I happened across the display above at my local CVS (actually, they had 2 displays. I guess they wanted to be prepared! lol). I snatched one up and ran calmly walked to the register to pay (and with my CVS Extra Bucks, no less. Can you say “FREE”? lol). As soon as I got home I got to swatching. So, does this little palette live up to the beauty hype? Take a look!
When I swatched The Gilded Age on the back of my hand, I wasn’t too sure. The colors didn’t really seem very complimentary of one another. But I went ahead with my application and here’s what I got…
My Completed Look: The Gilded Age Eyeshadow Trio
Pretty gorgeous, huh?! I absolutely love this look! It gives a sultry, smoky eye look, but because the shades are more neutral than a typical smokey eye, it looks lighter and less extreme. I finished off this look with Milani Liquif’Eye Liner, $6.49 in Black and Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara, $21 in Black. I think this look is perfect for the summer time, and is begging to be worn out on a Date Night!
If you want one of these eyeshadow trios I suggest you get a move on. They’re selling out fast and some unscrupulous people are hoarding them and selling them on eBay for $20+ (Y’all it’s really not that deep…). What did you think of this look using Wet ‘n Wild’s The Gilded Age trio? Will you be picking one up? Already have The Gilded Age or one of the other Wet ‘n Wild eyeshadows? Tell us how you like them in the comments!
