Get Her Look: Alicia Keys at the Keep a Child Alive Ball
Alicia Keys turned heads last week at her annual Keep a Child Alive Benefit Ball in a Riccardo Tisci designed custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown. Are those ostrich feathers and gold metal belt not to die for? But what really caught my eye was Alicia’s beauty look!
After applying your favorite foundation/powder, give your cheeks some definition and a little glow. First, apply a little bronzer such as Cargo Bronzing Powder in Dark, $28 (my all-time fave!) to cheek bones and forehead, as well to the chin and bridge of the nose. Basically, everywhere the sun naturally hits your face. Bronzer isn’t the focus of this look, so less is more! Next, sweep a terracotta blush such as MAC Powder Blush in Format, $19 (a brown girl classic) using an angled blush brush.
Keep the eyeshadow simple. Simply apply a nude shade on the lid, and a deeper cocoa brown to the crease. Finish with a light, shimmery shade to the brow bone to highlight. Find these shades in Eve Pearl The Eye Palette in Au’ Natural, $40 or NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Champagne & Caviar, $11. Next, give eyes drama with bold, winged black eyeliner. For this, I love Eve Pearl Smudgeproof Liquid Eyeliner, $29 because it never dries out and has a built-in brush. NYX Super Fat Eye Marker, $10 is another great option!
Then apply two coats of a lengthening and thickening mascara such as Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara in Very Black, $8. Lastly, lightly fill in any sparse areas of your brows with Maybelline Expert Eyes Twin Brow & Eye Pencils in Dark Brown, $3.
Give your pout a glossy pop of color with Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Fuschia #30, $9 or tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Amused, $24 – my favorite go-to shades when I want to rock hot pink lips!
