Cover Girl: Beyonce Covers July Issue of Essence

It’s officially Bey season! All summer we’ll be seeing Beyoncé on magazine covers and TV, and the July issue of Essence is the latest in what is sure to be a string of magazine covers. I must admit, though, that I am a little less than enthused about this cover. One on hand, it’s nice to see a fresher, lighter Beyonce cover, but on the other hand so much is wrong here.

First, those eyebrows. Lawd, those eyebrows!! Everyone knows that if a dark haired woman lightens her hair and goes blonde, her eyebrows MUST go lighter too. It’s the only way to keep from looking a mess. Boo for the hair/makeup team on this shoot, and boo for the photographer for choosing such an unflattering photo of Beyoncé for the cover. Laying down? Really? This just looks unnatural. I’m rather disappointed in Essence and their editorial team for this lackluster cover. Especially since the Alicia Keys cover last month was so stunning!

From what I’ve read so far online, I’m not the only one not feeling this cover. What do you think, bombshells? Are you feeling Beyoncé’s Essence cover?     OMG! I’m real irritated with those eyebrows. I’m down with innovation in just about any area of life, but there are some rules you just don’t break (especially while posing for the cover of a major magazine!) That is all.

    I truly have to agree with everything you said here.  I’m not a try Bey fan, but she has taken some gorgeous photos. This does her nor the makeup/style team no justice.  Lawd those eyebrows are killing me too. And as  Dramaqueen said where is Mr. Fine when you need him.
