Beauty Review: Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat
When I saw this new ad with model Jourdan Dunn over on The Fashion Bomb I realized that I’ve been using Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat, $40 for as long as I’ve been writing this blog and I’ve never reviewed it for you all. Major FAIL! So allow me to rectify this right now.
If you’re not familiar with the wonderous little gem that is Touch Éclat (or Radiant Touch), let me get you up to speed! Not to be confused with a concealer, this highlighter pen has achieved cult status with celebs, makeup artists and everyday women because of its unparallelled ability to reflect light from dark areas on the face. Since it’s release in 1992, one of these golden pens is sold somewhere in the world every 20 seconds. It’s just that serious! Dark circles under the eyes, redness or discoloration around the nose and mouth are all banished with a click of this pen. Allow me to demonstrate!
Touche Éclat comes with a brush applicator that fills with product when you click the bottom of the pen. I use shade #4 called Luminous Toffee, a great, golden shade for brown skin.
Now, please excuse my unruly brows, but I had to show you how well this works! In my makeup-less “Before” picture you can see the dark circles under my eyes and the dark coloring on my eyelids. In the “After” pic, I’d applied Touche Éclat around my eyes, and you can see that all traces of darkness are gone and the whole area looks brighter and lifted. Pretty amazing, huh?
I can’t front, this stuff is expensive, but it’s worth every last penny. To make it last, I don’t wear it every day, and reserve it for special occasions, when I’m being photographed, or when I look particularly tired. This method has worked pretty well for me, as I’ve only had to buy two of these in the last two years.
Have you tried Touche Éclat? If not, do you think you’ll give it a whirl? Let me know!
