Bombshell Style: Target Does Harlem + “Miss Tina” for Wal-Mart
It’s been a while since I’ve shared any style news, and today’s post is sure to pique your fashion curiosity! We’re all familiar with Target’s designer collaborations, but their next designer collection has this former Harlemite super excited! To coincide with the July 25th opening of their new East Harlem store, Target has teamed up with Cuban designer Isabel Toledo (who designed First Lady Michelle Obama’s Inaguration ensemble) and her artist hubby Ruben Toledo, legendary Black designer Stephen Burrows, and cutie Ethiopian chef Marcus Samuelsson, to release a Harlem-inspired collection of women’s apparel and kitchen accessories.
Both Stephen Burrows’ collection is a colorful mix of dresses and seperates, while the Toledo’s collection is a varied mix of separates, swimwear and tees. I’m not one to hit the kitchen often, but Marcus Samuelsson’s collection of cheery cloth napkins, place mats and more, are absolutely adorable! The Harlem collection will hit Target’s new Harlem store on July 25th, and Target.com and Target stores nationwide on August 1st. In other fabulously frugal fashion news, Tina Knowles, mother of Beyonce and, err, designer of House of Dereon, will be releasing a collection at Wal-Mart stores this Fall. The line was debuted at Essence Music Festival earlier this month, but if you missed it, check out this video of Ms. Knowles modeling her designs for a recent photo shoot.
