Beauty News: Laila Ali to Debut Line of Hair and Skin Care Products

According to the August issues of both Essence and Ebony magazines, professional boxer Laila Ali will soon be releasing a line of hair and skin care products.

From the little info out on the lines, the glamorous athlete did her research when formulating the products! The items in the Laila Ali Professional Hair Care line will be sulfate-free (which is great in preventing dryness), and contain shea butter, hydrolyzed wheat protein, acai and gogi berries. No word yet on the ingredients in the Laila Ali Professional Daily Skin Care line, but I’m sure it will be just as good!

Both collections are expected to hit store shelves soon at Target, Wal-Mart, CVS and Rite-Aid. I haven’t seen them yet (and believe me, I’ve looked), so be sure to let us know in the comments if you scope them out anywhere!

I recently decided to get rid of perm and go natural. It’s working great and I’m loving it. I was wondering if this product a good one for me

Target has this line in Coral Springs, FL.  I bought the Curl Defining Gel yesterday and used it this morning.  I LOOOVE It!  For the last 8 mos, I have used nothing but Kinky Kurly (Curly Pudding) which until today I thought was the only gel worth buying (and at $16 or $33 a container, lasting 1-3 mos depending on size and hair length, that’s a helluva commitment).  However, I was always annoyed by the crunchy feel and limited movement I got with Kinky Kurly even when I only used a little.
This morning I opened the Curl Defining Gel and was pleased by the smell but a little dubious about the lighter consistency.  I am now 4 hours into my workday and I’m in LOVE!  My hair has hold and texture, no frizz and is touchably soft.  I will definitely buy this again!  Did I mention the price was $12 for the same size jar as the $16 Kinky Kurly?
Now, I will say that I know nothing about the rest of her line.  In case you’re wondering, here is my typical regimine:
I use Wen Conditioning Cleanser when I can get it 50% off and Infusium Mosturize Conditioner ($3-$5) or Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Conditioner ($3) in the same manner as Wen on a regular basis.
I use Kera Kare Essential Oils mixed with a small amount of conditioner on my ends when soaking wet as a leave-in (also in the same fashion as Wen).
Then I apply the curl defining gel (still on soaking wet hair) and comb it all through.
I scrunch then clip it up and blow dry with a diffuser while still in the clips.
When 3/4 dry I continue styling and take the “hair crack” to the edges (Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Edge Control Hair Gel, another one I cannot live without!).

Hey, girlie! Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been eyeing this line in Wal-Mart for several months and was thisclose to buying it when I saw it had turned up at my neighborhood Target. I decided against it when I took a peek inside the jar of the Curl Defining Gel and saw how liquidy it was. But now that you’ve shared this, I think I’ll go back this weekend and pick it up! Thanks again! :)

I’m so disappointed with this perm!!! Ive used pink lotion, precise, olive oil perms &decided to try this 1 out because it was on sale in Pathmark for 2 dollars. it felt like it felt like the only thing I did was wash my hair. let’s just say you get what you pay for. I’ve even read review for this for this product that were that were poor but, I decided to give it a try. My lost :/ . it didn’t straighten my hair not one bit, it still remains as curly as ever. I tried it on my little sister’s hair whose hair is thick & very long sadly we ended up with the same results.

  • Amber

Wow, I’m sorry to hear that! I haven’t seen the products around in stores, I guess it didn’t sell very well. :(

  • nadine

I’m just hoping the results of the perm won’t interfere with my hair style I want for New Years that’s the biggest thing

  • Amber

No, that wouldn’t be good. At least it doesn’t seem to have done any permanent damage to your hair.
