Best Mineral Foundations for Brown Skin
Hey Bombshells!
Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to pare down your makeup routine. A great way to do this is to swap your liquid foundation for a powder mineral formulation that can withstand the sweltering heat of these warmer months.
I recently had the opportunity to try three amazing mineral foundations that are perfect for darker skintones! Unlike other popular mineral foundations (that shall remain nameless…), these foundations were made with our skintones in mind, and don’t give your face that ghastly, ashy appearance that’s so common with mineral makeup.
Take a look at my finds and give one of them a try this summer!
Black Opal cosmetics are a long-time favorite of everyday women and celebrity makeup artists like Sam Fine, alike. And for good reason! Black Opal has some of the most realistic shades of foundation makeup around, and their products are of great quality. Their new Mineral Brilliance Powder Foundation, $10 is a great option if you’re looking for a sheer powder foundation with minimal coverage. It comes in five shades from Light to Very Deep, and is a perfect for a light dusting of coverage, or to set a tinted moisturizer.
Black Radiance has been a drugstore staple for years, and they’ve revamped their line to include lots of innovative new products. One of these is their Perfect Blend Mineral Foundation, $8. This medium coverage foundation comes with two complimentary shades of foundation to create your own perfect shade. This is a genius idea since many women of color have two different skin tones! I recommend ditching the brush that comes with it, and buying your own kabuki brush for the best results.
I’ve been hearing buzz about Youngblood Cosmetics in the beauty streets for the longest, and finally got to scope out some of their products at The Makeup Show NYC. Let me tell you, I am SO glad I did! Youngblood Natural Mineral Foundation, $38 is by far the best mineral makeup I’ve ever tried! The coverage is full enough to cover all blemishes and uneven skintone, but still manages to be sheer enough to look totally natural. I also recommend Youngblood’s Mineral Rice Setting Powder, $22 to mattify and set your makeup, allowing it to last all day. You will not be disappointed!
Have you tried one of these? Got a favorite mineral makeup? Share!
