Beauty Review: TRESemme Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo

I’ve long been on a search for a new dry shampoo. I love my Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo powder because it smells SO good, and does a great job of absorbing damage-causing sweat after a workout (or a night shaking it at the club, wink, wink), and makes my hair smell great between shampoos. But I don’t always want to sprinkle powder on my hair. One false move, and I can easily look like I dipped my head in a bowl of flour!

So when I came across TRESemme’s new Fresh Start collection, I was very curious about these new products. The other items in the collection contain alcohol, a big no-no for our hair. However, I was finally worn down and decided to try the alcohol-free Waterless Foam Shampoo, $5. I was skeptical because this product contains water, but the water turned out to not be problematic at all! Here’s what TRESsemme says about this new product:

Do not miss a fresh look and feel even on the second day. TRESsemme Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo is the perfect solution to clean hair without water anytime. The unique formula, with Witch Hazel, Citrus, and Aloe Vera, refreshes your hair by removing excess oil, impurities and odor whole moisturizing hair. Waterless Foam Shampoo instantly transforms lifeless, limp and dull hair into fresh hair that is clean, shiny and smooth.

I tried this out last night, and I must say, this product really lived up to its claims! Just take 1-3 pumps of this foam, depending on your hair length, and run it through your hair with your fingers. Then, take a towel and gently tub your hair to get any dirt or other impurities out. I was worried that my hair would be a soggy mess, but it was only very slightly moist (like I had just put on a light mousse), and dried almost instantly! Color me impressed! Plus, my hair was really soft and smooth, and had a subtle shine and a light, clean scent.

Waterless Foam Shampoo is a great option for those days when you need to wash your hair, but don’t have the time (or energy)  to wash and dry your hair, then pull out a blow dryer and flatiron. This worked surprisingly well on my relaxed/transitioning hair, and would also be great for extensions and natural hair as well. And the fact that its so cheap makes it even better! I highly recommend it! You can find it at Walmart, Target and drugstores like Walgreens and CVS.

Do NOT use this with extensions. I made the mistake of doing this the other day and my extensions have become totally stuck together. NOTHING will get it out – not clarifying shampoo, not baking soda, not dish soap. DO NOT PUT THIS STUFF IN YOUR EXTENSIONS. Its a nightmare!
