Beauty Review: Best Makeup Remover Towelettes
I have a beauty confession: I can be pretty lazy when it comes to taking off my makeup at night. I’m tired and dozing off, so the last thing I want to do is drag to the bathroom to suds up my face. But rather than break the cardinal rule of beauty (“never go to sleep with makeup on”), I keep some makeup remover towelettes handy. A pack near my bed (and another near my living room sofa, if I’m being honest!) is all I need to remove the day before I hit the hay (sorry for rhyming!)
I have tried pretty much every makeup removing cloth under the sun, from the generic to the high end. For the most part, many left much to be desired. However, a few stood out and I’m pleased as punch to share them here with you! To make this little list, the cleaning cloth had to, well, clean! It needed to remove makeup very well, including eye makeup. It also needed to not be harsh. No rough cloth or eye-stinging formulas allowed! So, here they are! My top 3 picks for best makeup remover towelette!
GOOD: L’Oreal Skin Genesis Wet Cleansing Towelettes, $8 for 25 These budget friendly wipes are some of the better drugstore wipes I’ve tried. Unlike other cheapie cloths, these aren’t dry or rough on the skin. I didn’t find them to be the absolute best at removing every stitch of makeup, but I did feel like these cloths were actually caring for my skin. I even used them on days when I went without makeup.
Best For: Those who wear little to no makeup, or those who want skin care in a wipe.
BETTER: MAC Wipes, $18 for 45. These were the most expensive wipes I think I’ve ever tried and, thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed! These large wipes are no joke when it comes to removing makeup, so it’s no wonder these have such a big following. While extremely effective at removing every trace of makeup, I found these to be a tad drying at times. I found myself using these on heavy-duty makeup days.
Best For: Heavy makeup wearers, or very oily skin types.
BEST: Alcone Make-Off, $11 for 24. I picked up these beauty industry favorites at The Artist Summit last year, and have truly found a new personal fave! These individually-wrapped wipes are super moist and do a great job at removing makeup without drying the skin or leaving an oily residue. They’re also incredibly soft and cushy, and very gentle on your skin. The only downside is that very few places carry these in store, so buying online is pretty much your only option.
Best For: Moderate makeup wearers and all skin types.
Have you tried any of these? I’m dying to know! Got a recommendation of your own? Don’t be stingy! Share!
