Beauty for a Good Cause: World AIDS Day 2009

AIDS-Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day. According to the Center for Disease Control, African Americans account for 51% of new AIDS diagnoses, even though we only make up 12% of the US population. Astounding stats, right?

This is why it’s super important to make today count. Please go and get tested for HIV/AIDS today in honor of World AIDS Day, because knowing your status can keep you and your partner healthy.  Visit HIVTest.org to find a free testing site near you.

If you would like to contribute to the cause and pick up some fabulous beauty products at the same, check out these great products created in honor of World AIDS Day 2009!

MAC Cosmetics has always been a champion of the fight against AIDS, and every year they release a Viva Glam lip color with a celebrity diva to represent it. Past Viva Glam divas have included Lil’ Kim, Mary J. Blige and RuPaul. Fergie represented for 2009, and Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper have been selected for 2010.

100% of the proceeds from MAC Viva Glam Lipstick, $14 and  MAC Miracles Happen Viva Glam Lip Kit, $22.50 go to the MAC AIDS Fund, which supports men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS.

kiehls hand salve

Kiehls is also getting in on the World AIDS Day beauty. This year they’ve released Hand Care for a Cure Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, $12.50. This ultra rich cream protects skin from dryness and moisture loss, and 100% of the proceeds go to AmfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research.

So, pick up one (or all three!) of these goodies in support of World AIDS Day. You’ll be supporting a great cause and getting some fab products in the process!

Great article with awesome products for a good cause! I love Kiehl’s so I’ll definitely have to pick up the “Hands for a Cure” because come winter there are few things that make my hands softer than Kiehl’s hand products. Thanks for sharing babe!
