Beauty Q&A: Inexpensive MAC Fix + Alternative

Q: I wanted to find a less expensive alternate to MAC Fix +. I’m looking for a multi-use product like MAC Fix + without the $18 price tag. Do you have any suggestions?

A: Hey Nicki! Face mists are a fabulous, but frequently overlooked, tool to add to any beauty arsenal. As you mentioned, they can be used for a multitude of beauty fixes. Not only are they great for setting makeup, but they can also be used to moisturize, refresh and tone the skin.
I always keep a face mist handy in the summer months to refresh my makeup and skin in the swealtering heat. But, face mists are also great in the winter if you choose a mist with moisturizing properties.
MAC Fix + is not a very complicated formula at all. It’s mostly made up of water, glycerin (the key moisturizing ingredient) and plant extracts, which are not at all expensive, especially if you go the natural route! With a formula as simple as this, it makes great sense to hit up your local Whole Foods or natural market for inexpensive alternatives to this popular MAC product.

Heritage Rosewater and Glycerin Mist $4 contains Vor-Mag water (water that has been vortexed and magnetized to increase the water’s energy levels, thus making it more beneficial), glycerin and hydrating Rose Oil.
Aubrey Organics is a favorite amongst the natural skin care set, and their Sparkling Mineral Water, $6 is a natural beauty gem! This refreshing blend contains sparkling mineral water, Aloe Vera, Vitamin B-5, soothing chamomile, and plant extracts.
Earth Science Herbal Tonic Mist, $6 is an ingredient powerhouse! This oil-free mist is chock full of aloe vera, glycerin, chammomile, moisture-binding hyaluronic acid and other skin goodies.
Derma E Fruit Smoothee Toning Mist $9 is unique because it contains anti-oxidant superfruits Acai berry, pomegranate and cranberry. Yumm!
Alba Botanica is another superstar natural skin care brand that I have used and loved. Their Rainforest Refreshing Mist Toner, $9.50 restores and refreshed skin with aloe, Vitamin B-5, Acai berry, tiger nut and cupaucu butter.
